Pic-a-nic Basket

We've been taking our Saturday afternoons easy following our morning long runs (we're attempting to train for a half marathon in a few weekends) - and now for two weekends in a row the weather has cooperated nicely. Our new favorite pastime is to grab some lunch fixins, get a coffee from Icoco, and then find a patch of sun in one of the many parks in the area. This weekend we decided to finally try the burger that everyone raves about from Andrew's Hamburgers in Albert Park. Not only were all the recommendations right, these guys actually make an honest to goodness American-style hamburger. Sure you can get egg on your burger if you want to make it Aussie - but the bacon cheeseburger ranks right up there in our book and tasted amazing! The take-away-only shop reminded us of a stereotypical take-out diner with no tables, a bar to order at, and two guys back on the grill mashing diced onions into the burger patties as they cook.

Setting up our blanket at the park again attracted some inquisitive birds - pigeons and seagulls this time though. One of the seagulls clearly did NOT want to share the stakeout with any of his feathered friends and proceded to tell them so over and over and over again throughout our lunch. Once we'd finished our yummy burgers and thrown away the trash we settled in for a bit of a relax and the birds gave up. We could definately get used to this kind of a day!

I bet you wish that you had a fish quilt to spread out and nap on in the park! Hee hee

Really - sounds like a great way to spend an afternoon. I might have to recreate that here in Iowa City this summer!
