Spring Is In The Air

After having spent the past couple of weekends around the house we decided we needed to head out and do something fun, so this past weekend we visited the Tesselaar Tulip Festival in the Dandenongs. (We were meant to go the previous weekend with friends Sean, Jenn and Grace, but unfortunately work took precedence and we had to opt out. Nevertheless, Kristi was keen to see the tulips - a bright, colorful sign of springtime - so we went up ourselves.)
After our usual Saturday morning workouts, we booked Smithers and headed out of town. We had a nice drive, especially once we hit the edge of town and we were on the hilly roads through the massive eucalyptus trees. Once at the festival, we had a great time taking pictures and wandering around the flowers. The sky was cloudy and grey and it was a bit cool outside, but the beautiful colors did wonders to brighten our day. We took tons of pictures and then when we were tired of that we listened to a little (not so great) jazz music while we tried a couple of local wines and ate fabulous Dutch Poffertjes - it was the 'Food, Wine & Jazz' weekend so we had to take advantage of it :)

On our drive back to town we listened to a little of the Footy Grand Final on the radio, but it was a blow-out game and a bit less than exciting by the time we tuned in. However, it did remind us of home and listening to Broncos games in the car on Sunday afternoons/evenings on our way home from wherever we had gone over the weekend - so we enjoyed it.

Also on our return trip we were lucky enough to be the first people to purchase petrol for Smithers (once we determined what side of the car the gas take was on, all went well), and we found Josh a new memory foam pillow so he can have more restful nights. We were a bit tight on time getting back in the city, but we made it with no dramas. All in all, a nice afternoon!
