Kristi Arrives!

After much anticipation and planning, we had finally booked Kristi's ticket to Australia and the day of departure had come. TONS of things to wrap up at home with some minor drama at the airport and delays leaving Denver made getting out of town interesting. Long lines (as always) at LAX but she made the flight, found her seat and was off for the long ride to Australia. Here's where things got interesting because from leaving LA until she arrived at the apartment in Melbourne there would be no communication - so if the plan changed, it would be tough to sort it out. Luckily the plan didn't change much, but it was good to talk before leaving LAX just to make sure. Josh had arranged for a driver to meet Kristi rather than the normal taxi so that she could relax and the driver would know where to go and also be looking for her. Of course this couldn't be smoothly done so between a couple of worried phone calls between Josh and the driver, Kristi finally emerged from customs with all her bags and it was off to the city.

The rest of the day was pretty easy as Josh had taken the afternoon off work and we were able to just explore Melbourne via foot and tram. The only trouble was that Kristi had brought the precipitation with her from Denver and we had the first real day of rain that Melbourne had seen in over 6 months! It sprinkled/poured off an on all day but we were still able to look at the area of apartments Josh had been researching as well as introduce Kristi to the Villagio - a standard Saturday and Sunday destination for Josh in recent bicycling weeks. Kristi stayed awake all day but did end up going to bed somewhat early - though not before enjoying some wine and cheese with dinner!
